I have copied to my clipboard 'FEB200200J' but only care about everything preceeding the 'J'.ĭue to Rainmeter's limitations in webscraping, I want Python to do the leg work of recognizing when this type of format is copied to the clipboard, to webscrape that information (item title, cover image, publisher) from a specific website (no login needed), and then to update the Rainmeter. The formatting of the item that I wish to grab from the clipboard are items that are formatted as a three character month code, followed by a six digit code (occasionally there will be an extraneous letter at the end of the code that I wish to ignore). But instead, I want to create a Python script that runs continually and concurrently with Rainmeter, and if a certain formatted item is copied, to then webscrape a specific website for information related to that item. There currently exists a limited Rainmeter widget that will display information on a desktop widget of the past 10 copied clipboard items. txt file that can then be displayed in a Rainmeter widget. The Goal: Using Python to take information from the Windows Clipboard and edit that information into an already existing Rainmeter. I am just starting and have VS Code installed along with Python 3.10.4 as well as Rainmeter. This is my first Stack Overflow post, and I am not quite sure where to start and am looking for direction.
